In order to provide rigid support to the rotor bearing, the casing is noticeably ribbed. The shredder has a feed distributor or cane knife at the top. For the protection of the rotor and hammers from tramp iron, large rocks & stones, the anvil is hinged and located in a strategic location.

The shredding of cane in such heavy-duty equipment exposes more fibre particles and ruptures more sucrose bearing cells, which in turn, allows the mill extraction process to optimize the extraction of sugar juice from the cane.
